Van rental in Jura: travel tips and itineraries

From vineyards to mountains, the Jura roads promise an unforgettable stay. Discover the bucolic pleasures of the "Emerald Land" before beginning to ascend. Along the lakeshores, in the shadow of the mountains, or in a charming town, equipped parking areas welcome you throughout your journey.

Campervan rental: 3 days in the Jura

Starting from Mulhouse, head to Dole, a city of art and history and the gateway to the Val d'Amour. Stroll under the canopy of the Chaux Forest, then join the banks of the Loue River for a peaceful kayak descent. Take your time to wander through the charming villages of Val d'Amour; a parking area awaits you in Ounans.

On the second day of your campervan rental in the Jura, hit the road to Salins-les-Bains. Here, you'll discover the various benefits of salt under the arches of the Grande Saline and in its renowned thermal baths. Continue your journey through the Revermont region on the wine route. Make a stop at Château-Chalon to taste (in moderation) the famous Jura yellow wine.

After a night in Tour-du-Meix, you enter the fabulous Land of Lakes and the Little Mountain. Behind the wheel of your campervan, you'll uncover breathtaking landscapes. Hike while listening to the sounds of the Hérisson Waterfalls, amidst a lush forest that changes colors with the seasons.

A week in the Jura with campervan rental

Pick up your rental van in Lyon and embark on discovering the most impressive landscapes of the Jura. This itinerary is just as enjoyable from our Avis Explore agency in Mulhouse.

Day1

The Oliferne Peak offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Several heritage visits await you on your journey, such as the Saint-Hymetière Church or the Gigny Abbey founded in 880. For the first night of your campervan rental in the Jura, fall asleep on the shores of Lake Vouglans in Maisod.

Day2

At the Belvedere of the 4 Lakes, admire the emerald and turquoise carpet of forests and lakes below. These wild landscapes are conquered step by step up to the Pic de l'Aigle. You can spend the night in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux.

Day3

In your rental van, head up to the Rousses resort. In winter, there's skiing, snowshoeing, or sledding. In summer, it's also a paradise for outdoor activities, horseback riding, canoeing, or tree-climbing. This peaceful green haven is a highlight of any campervan rental in the Jura.

Day4

After a final scooter ride or dog sledding in Les Rousses, visit the Morbier cheese dairies. Make a stop in Clairvaux-les-Lacs to enjoy its water sports base and discover the Hérisson Waterfalls.

Day5

Embark on an excursion in the land of Lons, Bresse, and Revermont, to the famous Val d'Amour. Follow the scenic wine route to taste (in moderation) the finest wines of this wine-producing region. The picturesque village of Ounans will welcome your campervan for the night.

Day6

Take a walk in the Massif de la Serre, then follow in the footsteps of "Le Chat perché" in Dole. Head south to discover Baume-les-Messieurs, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Nearby, visit the fascinating Baume Caves, a classified regional nature reserve. For your last night in the Jura, you can park your rental van in Arlay or Quintigny.

Day7

Before starting the journey back, treat yourself to a wellness and lifestyle stop in Lons-le-Saunier. Superb thermal baths await you there.
